Sue Smart presentingBusiness women workshop audience

On 23rd April 2009 over 80 businesswomen from Bridgend area attended the Positively Smart Image workshop at The Waterton Centre. The one hour interactive workshop helped everyone to identify their body shape, learn to recognise and avoid professional image breakers, understand personal colouring and demystify the smart/casual dress code.

Themes of the event:-

People make value judgments about you within 7 seconds of meeting you.
· So, what first impressions are you conveying?
· What does your self-branding look like?
· Does your appearance match your behaviour?
· Are you giving out mixed messages?
· Do you know what your body shape is and which style of clothing brings out the best in you?
· Are you aware that the right colours can make you look younger, healthier and more alive?
· Did you know that some colour combinations could make you look unapproachable?
· Do you worry about dressing appropriately for certain occasions?

A serious topic which is often best handled with humour, providing a process of self awareness, designed to increase self-confidence. By illustrating the theory with real clothing styles and colour demonstrations on live models, the workshop aimed to show that getting the edge in both professional and personal situations is well within the grasp of everyone, regardless of size, shape, colouring and budget.

Self branding is something we should all think about. If politicians and celebrities do it, why shouldn’t we?
